Two of Washington’s premiere media, entertainment and technology attorneys have announced the partnership and the opening of Rosen Lewis, pllc. Lance Rosen, and Brian Lewis have opened a Seattle office together and are planning a Los Angeles office as well. The new firm will be a small, boutique law firm serving the media, entertainment and new technology communities.

"The industry here is notoriously prone to spikes, up and down, and Seattle has had some sharp ones," said Rosen. "I’ve been doing this in Seattle since 1992, and we are definitely moving upwards. There is so much creative energy in this city. Entertainment is a growth industry for the region."

"Lance and I have the great fortune to be working with a converging group of industries that we genuinely enjoy," said Lewis. "While our client’s businesses may be about fun and games, we take that seriously and provide the high quality legal and business counsel that our clients can trust."

Rosen was formerly a founding partner of Seattle law firm Koler, Rosen & Fitzsimmons and prior to that was director of business and legal affairs at The Disney Channel in Los Angeles and as vice president for creative and business affairs for Clear Blue Sky Productions.

Prior to becoming a lawyer/executive, Rosen was a professional actor with television, film and stage credits, including Firefox, Last Innocent Man, Fatal Vision, L.A. Law and Cagney & Lacey.

He founded two theatre companies, in Omaha, and Santa Cruz, where he produced and directed several plays.

Lewis serves as a member of the executive committee of the Washington State Bar Association, corporate counsel section, and is a past member of the board of directors of the Washington chapter American Corporate Counsel Association and serves on the Cyberspace Law Committee for the American Bar Association.

"Brian and I met when he was a guest speaker in an Entertainment Law class I teach at Seattle U. Law School," said Rosen. "The game industry in the Northwest is a major happening, and I knew my students and I both needed to hear from an expert. That’s how our friendship began. We soon realized how well our practices complemented each other, and a seed was planted to form our own firm, to serve the region’s entertainment industry in both old and new media."

Lewis served as a senior engineer and later in patent liaison operations for Boeing, later joining Perkins Coie P.S. as an attorney. In 1994 Brian joined Wizards of the Coast as vice president for business development & general counsel. In November of 2002 Lewis established his own sole practice, Lewis Law Offices, pllc.

"Through our work together, we have learned that the convergence of entertainment platforms including games, motion pictures, television, video games, and mobile devices represents the future of media, entertainment, and technology," said Lewis. "Without conceit, we recognize that we possess perhaps the strongest available combination of expertise in these areas. Because of our size and focus on this area, we believe that we can nimbly provide the highest quality counsel possible in this area at a fraction of the cost our clients would pay to larger law firms."
